Thank you Geraldine.  I have never known a year go so quickly! I've met someone wonderful people and will keep in touch with some.  I hope to stay in touch and will look at the web ads occasionally.  I'll speak to Susie over the weekend. Au revoir,   Peter

Dear Geraldine and Heather
Ian and I met through the Portfolio Connection three and a half years ago. We are getting married in November so a real success - thank you for the introduction. Mary

Dear Geraldine and Heather
It is now almost a year since we met and a year this month since Susie and I first met.  You must think that I am very rude not to have contacted you at all but it is always very important to make sure one side is not being  presumptuous and that the relationship works on both sides.
We are still very happily together but taking it slowly.............
I hope all is well with you both and we will let you know how things develop but a big thank you from me.  KR  David

Hi Geraldine

Thanks for the photograph.  Although his profile read well and I am sure he is a very nice man and as with a few I have met, I could see us being friends but definitely not someone I would be interested in romantically. Unfortunately spitting image of my late uncle!

reply

Hi Sandie

Thanks for your email.

Well we've had some explanations of rejections before but that pretty near tops our list!  I remember the last one you rejected had the same dob as your x-partner.  I think you should consider the person and not the associations!  Quite unreal!x

Dear Geraldine and Lucy,
I have enjoyed being a member of County Register, and even though I have not met 'the one', it has been a good experience for me dating British men. I still have a few more weeks, and who knows I might still find him. Thank you for all your help, and I have  found County Register to be a really professional agency, with everything being very well presented from the brochures to the profiles.
I would be happy for you to keep my profile on your portfolio without further cost. I am going back to see my sons in South Africa from 15 July to about 6 September.
Keep well   With kind regards  Joy

Hello Geraldine
I hope you are well.
What can I say?  Things are going extremely well between Keith and I.  We are off on holiday together for two weeks on Saturday - and that will be a good test for us.  I am realistic though and not taking anything for granted at this stage. I will be in touch again in the next month or so.
KR C

Hello Geraldine

I am sorry that I have not contacted you sooner and, even though my membership has now expired, I wanted to thank you for the excellent service I received from your company.  I would also like to wish you a very successful 2010.

Hi there Geraldine

Thank you! - actually, its all down to you!!  If you hadn't persuaded me to give it another go at Christmas - and if you hadn't sent me Keith's profile in February......we would not be exchanging these messages!
Updates will be coming your way! Bye for now   Claire

Dear Heather

Thank you for starting me on this exciting and very unfamiliar journey.
I am having a wonderful time; have a great weekend.  With very best wishes  Denise

Call from Anita to say that she and Michael are still together-just celebrated three years together.  They are off to Paris this weekend and wanted to recommend a dear friend to us.  Said I would send him a brochure and looked forward to hearing from him.

Dear Lucy & Geraldine
Roger & I got engaged on Valentine's Day. We plan to get married either in the autumn or next spring. Just thought you would like news of a success.  regards  Frances

Dear Geraldine
Yes Caroline and I are together and remain so. So thank you all at CR for all your help and advice-With all best wishes, Alan

Dear Geraldine and Lucy
As my membership in the Portfolio Connection ends tomorrow, yes please keep me on your database as a passive client.
I have totally enjoyed the past year which have brought me introductions to people I would have never otherwise have met. I have met 13 people, and am waiting to meet one more at this time as we have talked on the phone. I am starting to see one guy often and will let you know if this works out over time, and have managed to keep some as friends.
Both of you have helped me tremendously to make this a smooth journey, even over some of the "blips", and I can't thank you enough. I would recommend the County Register and the Portfolio Connection to anyone who is looking but has not succeeded in the regular channels. Take care and many thanks again. Kind regards,  Catherine

Dear Geraldine & Heather
It was a pleasure to meet Heather on Sunday and I found our conversation really helpful.
Thank you very much.
I then went to meet up with my university friend whose wife died in March and told him about our meeting.
His reaction was interesting and made me feel that I need to wait and see how this friendship works out before registering with you.
I would be happy to pay a fee for the meeting with Heather as I so appreciate her spending time with me and having a frank discussion, so please let me know about that.
I may well be in touch in the future if this does not work out and would like to thank you both for your expertise and kindness.
Heather said she would be in touch on Tuesday to arrange a meeting, hence this email to explain.  I think you are both doing wonderful work!

Dear Geraldine,
Many thanks for your your introduction.  In fact, I have found a new partner and am very happy with him, so I would be grateful if you would kindly take me off your register.
I would like to say that it was a great pleasure meeting you, and I think you have made a wonderful institution for meeting people.
Many thanks for all your advice and help and I wish you all the very best in the future. Warm regards,  Christine

Hi Geraldine
How are you?   I so sorry not to have contacted you before but so much has happened good and bad. Firstly David and I are really together and wait for it we might even get married!
Secondly  I am having an operation soon - they have discovered early cancer so fingers crossed this is just a hiccup and we can get on with our lives.
Thank you for being such a star through all these years. I consider you to be a very dear friend.   I will keep you posted.  Love  Jane

Hi folks!!  Yes, its us!!  Today is the 2nd anniversary of Mike and I meeting on platform 3 of Waterloo Station!!!  We have had the most incredible 2 years.  With Mike's home and business in Ireland, County Mayo, and me here, we have gone too and fro!  We also managed to fit in, Skiing in Austria, Sailing in Croatia, 5 weeks in India, more skiing in Spain, trips to families (thousands of them between us!) in England, and spend most of our time based here in the Algarve.
Blissfully happy, love each ther dearly, and bless the County Register, and both of you regularly.  You wouldn't let me give up, thank goodness!!!!  So any time anyone is visiting the Algarve, please give us a call, and you would be more than welcome...............we share our home with my 2 portuguese water dogs, and Mike's 60th Birthday pressie, Isla Dog, who at 10 months, is an ENORMOUS bundle of Newfoundland fun!!  Bless you both, and as always, thank you!  Gillie and Mike.

Hi Geraldine

Thanks for all your help-David sends his best and I would happily recommend you to any of my friends!

Dear Heather-Robert and I have celebrated one year as Mr and Mrs - and are very happy - just on the verge also of an empty nest which will feel very strange.  I cannot believe how 6 years have flown by!  The reason I am contacting you again is to see if you may be able to help my sister who has recently divorced.  I look forward to chatting with you.  Our sincere thanks to you all.  Caroline

Dear Lucy
Just to update you. Robert & I are still living very happily in the Cotswolds. It is 7 months since I moved here & I now definitely think of it as home. I have just spent a couple of days in
Shrewsbury visiting friends, which was great, but I was pleased to come back. Our children his and mine get on well & so do our other family members, so life is good.
Hope all is well with you & you are having plenty of other successful outcomes.  love Frances

Hi Zara-Sorry - I feel terrible.  Have been meaning to email you for weeks to thank you so much for the past year and all your wonderful introductions!  It's been fun, interesting and exciting.  Am still in touch with Andy so who knows where it may end up - I will keep you posted should there be any interesting stories to pass on!I'll be in touch in a couple of months when I can't stand it anymore and need more introductions!  Regards Kate

Phone call from Ian to say that he and Maria have just celebrated their second anniversary and hope to be moving in together in September.  He thanked us for the introduction and said that ‘it really does work’!!

Dear Geraldine

I was going through old Christmas cards which had been kept to remind me to answer, can you believe how bored I am???  I have been meaning to write to you.
I am still with Dave, in fact we now live together.  I've moved to
Suffolk for my sins and as I am totally unable to get any type of work, I'm very determined to get some charity work going and become a much better correspondent.  Watch this space.
I sent two other applicants to you who seem to be enjoying themselves. I hope another friend in
Norfolk will get in touch with you.  What is the climate like out there before I tell her AGAIN that she had better get on with it???
Gorgeous sunshine here so I'm going to get OUT INTO IT.
Hope you are well.  Let me know how the business is going for my girlfriend. Love Sue xx

Dear Geraldine, just to let you know that Alan and I got married last weekend, a wonderful few days with our families and friends, and now we are on our honeymoon.  So we have a lot to thank THE COUNTY REGISTER for.....I am so happy being married to him! with love from Sarah.

Hi Geraldine

Thanks for your input.  You do go the extra mile and working on a Saturday to sort out my mess-much appreciated!  Mary

Dear Heather

I registered with County Partners on 25 June 1998.  When you and I met at the Institute of Directors’, you had that day just received a large write-up with photograph in, I believe, The Times.  Now, I read a sequel in The Lady and am again impressed by your ability to get favourable coverage on this scale.

On 28 February 2009 David M, my partner, and I celebrate 10 very happy and trouble-free years since our first meeting through Country Partners.  I am now 75 and he reaches 84 in May, so we are within your ’10 years maximum difference’.  We are fortunately in the best of health though he exceeds me in fitness and energy.

Like you and Simon we live apart; he in Cambridge and me in London.  We are always together at weekends plus high days and holidays.  We speak on the phone most days.  We agree ‘it works very well’.

At my interview I proposed confining the search to London (for convenience) and age 65 (for common sense).  I took your advice to lift these restrictions and widen the search (you said you met many men who were quite lively at 70).  How right you were!  Reading our two profiles again I realise how perceptive you were.

Having separate homes doubles our spheres of interest, friends, contacts and access to activities.  Also, we felt that should separation ensue, each of us would be left with what we had before, including finances.  Eventually, issues of old age and health-care may confront us but these are still unknown and cannot be accurately planned for.

I tell this tale so that you may add it to your store of experiences, if you wish.  We prefer not to be indentified in any way.  Should you have a gap in your IoD interviews, I should be glad to pop in and have a coffee.  Ten years is almost the length of the contemporary marriage and is quite an achievement.

Congratulations to you both and thank you for putting us in touch with each other.Yours sincerely, Liz

Dear Heather
Please thank all your team for the support, commitment and dedication in supporting and introducing me to some interesting men.  It has been a very good learning curve experience.  I think one has to be rather brave and work hard and keeping a good positive kind attitude.
Gerry is taking me to see French Opera  (Tristan and Isolde)  the Bastille.  His huge passion is Opera and his on the Paris Opera Foundation.  He adores his music and culture so you can see he is looking after me beautifully.  One of my friends is a famous musician conductor which is why we start chatting in the first place,
I do not think I would have had the confidence to feel comfortable if you had not keep introducing me to the different gentleman. Thank you for all the confidence and support you gave me.  I must admit his French manners are a real joy! With much thanks  Helen

Dear Lucy

Roger was actually the first man I was introduced to by the County Register. As I said if I wasn't well brought up I would not have gone to meet him after seeing the photo he sent me! We met in the July & saw each other off & on for about 6 months before it fizzled out. Then in June I rang him to see if his son could get me two tickets for the Leander Club at Henley. He said yes & that he would like to see me again. Since then the relationship has changed so we have now got to a stage when we want to be together.

He has moved from his remote house in the south west (I could not have settled there) to the outskirts of a larger town.  Although I didn't have anything to do with the choice of house, I love it!

Apart from finding a man I want to spend the rest of my life with, I'm not only just an hour away from London where my sons live. They will be able to come for Sunday lunch!! Also I'm less than an hour from my old home, which is beside the sea & where my lovely sister lives. She is 16 years older than me so it is fantastic that I shall be able to visit her more frequently. Our children are all very happy about the new arrangement. They have not yet met each other but I'm sure they will get on.  I couldn't be happier. Thank you for making it possible.  Regards  Mary

Dear Geraldine and Lucy,
Just to say a most sincere thank you for your work on my behalf during the past year.  I have been entirely satisfied with the efficiency and discretion of the firm.  My membership has been an interesting experience, even though it seemed at times to demand quite a lot of emotional energy!  I think I need a bit of a rest now, so please do not include my profile in portfolios for the time being.  If I change my mind, perhaps I may get back to you on that point?
Once again my best wishes to you both, Janet

Hi Geraldine
Thank you for contacting me.  I would like to say thank you and also that I would not hesitate to recommend your company as I have found you 100% professional. Thank you  Kind regards  Norma

Dear Geraldine
You're wonderful - thanks so much.
Have just spoken to Huw, and we're phoning each other next week and meeting for a late lunch on Maundy Thursday.  Yippee.  He sounded so nice..................... Hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Yours  Angela

Dear Geraldine, just to say a warm hello and to touch base and to say that I am living so very happily with my darling Andrew at the farm in Hampshire nowadays. I quite often tell a friend about the
County Register and so hope that others will find love and a true companion and best friend through your excellent personally-honed service. Life is good and I really appreciate it and each day, and it has been a joy introducing him to my family, who are all v much Andrew fans! warm wishes and I hope life proceeds happily and warmly for you,  I think TCR is an excellent thing to have in this modern world. You are doing great and meaningful work!  Please send my warm regards to Tamara, who I met in the summer of 2005. warm regards Sally

Dear Geraldine-thank you!
I have become so very happy in my new relationship that it's easy to forget how I go here, so I wanted to thank you whole heartedly for introducing me to Peter.  I could never have met him without you.  Of course he isn't perfect, but he is all I've every wanted and I feel so lucky.  Peter feels so right I don't see how anyone else could have matched him.  Thank you everyone at County Register and Happy Valentine's Day!!  With Kind regards, Sue

Thank you, Geraldine. Also many thanks to you and the girls for all your help over the past year. I shall leave things for a bit as you suggested and perhaps get back to you in the summer.  Best wishes Victoria

Dear Geraldine
Thank you for letting me know that my membership will come to an end in April and for sending me another Portfolio.  Although I haven’t met any ‘special’ through The Portfolio Connection I would like to thank you for giving me back my confidence.  It was very difficult to get out there and meet new people again after the death of my husband.  With grateful thanks, Mary

Hi Geraldine
What can I say - you are a star!  Thank you so much for all your trouble. Marianne

Dear Geraldine

I thought you would like to know that Rob and I have just celebrated 4 years together. We have recently bought a house together in Gloucestershire and plan to move in together in March. Both families get on well and we have had some wonderful times and are all very happy.
We are both so very grateful to you for introducing us.
Best Wishes Ann

Hi Geraldine

Just wanted to share our news with you and thank you for introducing me to David.  We have decided to become engaged and we are very happy together.  So, thank you for being the introducing agents for us.

I hope you are all well and I will let you know of future developments.  We hope to marry in April but do not want to impose change too quickly on my children, who like David also, thank goodness!!  Good wishes to you all,   Joanna

Hi Geraldine
Jeremy has just phoned - actually he also tried me yesterday evening and I thought it was the other Jeremy!  We're going to have a chat Thursday evening.  He sounded very nice and interesting on the phone and will be coming to
Oxford next Thursday.
You have no idea how glad I am that I joined the
County Register.  I'm seeing Anthony probably on Saturday in Norfolk - another very interesting man.
My friend Liz will be joining (possibly not until the New Year) and will chivvy her up a bit when I see her.
Yours  Angela

Dear Tamara
Thank you for your letter I received today. I have nothing but praise for the introductions you have given me during my membership. However I have yet to meet that special person so please keep me on your register and think of me from time to time.

Kind regards
Frank

Hi Lucy and Geraldine!!
Whew it’s hot here in the Med, not only is it 40 degrees of heat, but steamy in passion!!  Mike and I are blissfully happy here, and 'thank you' seems hardly enough to say!  We met somewhat romantically on Platform 3 of Waterloo station in a wet and drizzly
London some time ago, and here we now are!!  Your two square pegs are well and truly rounded off!!!
Your perseverance with me more than paid off, I had totally given up, and possibly was not believing that the system works, but, be honest how on earth could Mike from UK, and Jillie in the Med ever have got together without you............bless you, and enormous, THANK YOU!

Love from both of us (he's leaning over my shoulder as I type) and yes, please, take us both off the files, and notch us up on your Success List.

Jillie and Mike.

Dear Lucy
Many thanks. It’s so nice to get such friendly emails from you!
Sarahxxx

Hello Lucy,
Just thought I would update you on David and myself. We are getting along SO well and really enjoying one another's company to the extent that we are thinking a long-term relationship, which makes us both feel very happy indeed. So, unless anything goes horribly wrong, I cannot foresee any need, (touch wood) for future introductions or membership. What happens now?
However, please pass on my good news and happiness to Geraldine and Heather who I initially met. Thank you all so much for being so nice and professional and for introducing David and I. I will let you know of any changes as and when they occur.
Good wishes to you all,
Joanna

Geraldine
I have just recommended your services to a great friend by the name of David. He is a very kind and thoughtful man who I have known now for over 30 years. He is a professional person of great integrity who finds himself on his own and in need of female friendship. Like many of your clients he has found it difficult to meet new ladies so needs the help you gave Liz and myself.

By the way Liz and I are still carrying on our romance and enjoying each others company more than ever.  I hope you can help my friend.  John

Dear Geraldine
Thank you for your support during my membership and the introduction to Johnny, our relationship is getting stronger every day.  We have so much in common.  With Kind Regards, Valerie

Dear Lucy
Somehow, this Michael sounds more 'me', but lets wait and see.
Again bless you for all your efforts on my part, must give you top marks for persistence!!  Cheers, Gillie.

Dear Geraldine

Just a note to tell you that Liz and I are still together and planning a future together.  She is lovely and I find it difficult to believe in my luck. And you found her so quickly for me.

Regards and a big thank you  John

Dear Geraldine,  It is so kind of you to check out the amount of suitable candidates for me!  I do greatly appreciate it. You have been a kind friend over the last year.  I gather that my membership expires on April 7th. The County Register has been good for me.  It's got me out of my ivory tower and given me the courage to get out there and meet people.
My best wishes, Carolyn

Dear Geraldine,
I was just thinking it was time to contact you - and, yes, every time Michael are together I feel so fortunate to have met him and I feel I owe you and Anna a big 'thank you'....
I'm sure he will agree that you can add us to your 'success statistics'...!  He's a wonderful person and has been a such a support all during this, rather difficult, year - and now we are starting to plan things together for the future.
Hope things are going well for the organisation and you have lots more successes.

Hi Geraldine,
Thank you for letting me know that my membership has come to an end. In the nicest way I hope not to have to contact you again but it is reassuring to know you are there! All is going well with Bill, and I do thank you very much for introducing us.
With best wishes,
Gay

Dear Tamara
Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed meeting all of you yesterday.
I left the office feeling very positive - and very brave - and would just like to say thank to you all for putting me at my ease and making it all very comfortable for me - and thanks for the tea! Re Paul - I would be very interested to meet him, but equally if you decide that I am not the right person for you to put forward then I quite understand and am totally relaxed about it.
I look forward to hearing from you - hopefully!
Thanks again.  Isobel

Dear Tamara
So hope to put a second date in the diary to see Robin again soon (the sooner the better as far as I am concerned!!). And will let you know how I get on with Michael. Thank you for all your encouragement and hard work. I am so glad I joined The County Register.
Jill

Dear Lucy
I had a date with Roger on Monday. Nice man, but I am not sure we would be right for each other, and he probably feels the same way. Hope you enjoy your new job. You sound wonderfully friendly via e mail, which is a an absolute bonus.
Regards & thanks,  Caroline

Dear Tamara
Peter is a total sweetheart and a gentleman. We had a lovely evening, and I really enjoy his sense of humour. I scolded him for not calling sooner, telling him that I had complained to you. He has called again, and I look forward to seeing him when I return. So, thank you for that.
Ann

Hi Geraldine
Hope you are well.
I met James a couple of times over the weekend and we are getting on wonderfully. To this end I'd like to put future meetings 'on hold' for now and see how things pan out.
Best wishes,  Pam

Dear Geraldine and the team at The County Register
Mary and I  are now very close. We are both enraptured and feel it’s  likely to be THE ONE
Many thanks  to you all
John

Dear Heather
Just to let you know that Ken and I are marrying in December - thank you. I enjoyed my contact with all your clients and wish you all well.
With love,  Penny

Hi Geraldine
Just to let you know that I've recommended your service to my friend Fiona.  You should hear from her soon-I've told her you are the best!  Much affection Jennie

Dear Geraldine
Thank you for the note. I'm delighted to say I am completely in love with my gorgeous man.  We have just come back from a wonderful weekend away in a country house hotel.  We are both certain we will be together for ever and working out the details is going to be such fun. I am a very lucky girl.
Thank you for all your support.  With best wishes, Jane

Dear Anna, Geraldine and Tamara and of course Heather,
Thank you for all the work you have done on my behalf and all the people you have introduced me to, a couple of whom have become friends. I really appreciate all your help, generosity and patience. Alas, I didn’t find my Prince Charming but there we are. Thank you so much.
Kind regards to you all, Caroline

Dear Tamara
A very happy New Year to you.  You asked me to let you know how things went, well:- If you take the Times or Telegraph today you will see my engagement is announced.  It has been a whirlwind of a romance with Naomi and as we both feel so happy and comfortable about the relationship we are getting on with it wholeheartedly.  Lots of decisions to make now though including where to live etc…With kind regards and many thanks
Malcolm

Dear Zara
You have been in the press a lot in the last couple of weeks - The County Register I mean.  That's great and I hope it generates some good business for you.  What I have read has all been very complimentary, and think you all deserve it, as I think you offer a great service.  Just thought I'd say so!
Best wishes Vanessa

Hello Geraldine,
Many thanks for all your help, I have really enjoyed my membership.
Best wishes, Kate

Hi Anna
Hope you're well and that life is treating you kindly.
John and I have decided to walk off into the sunset together.
Please may I freeze my membership?
Love and smiles  Anne

Dear Tamara
I thought I would drop you a line simply to say hello.  I have been meaning to drop you a personal note for ages and ages and ages but I have no excuses – simply life is hectic.
Robert and I now have clocked up nearly three years how about that!  We are so happy and doing well.  We just click simple as that......  His children are adorable and we have the kindest relationship with his ex wife.
Life is fun and very happy.  Thanks to you!
With love from Dee

Hello Geraldine
I am meeting two people in London next weekend which I’m really looking forward to. So thank you for getting me started so quickly!
Regards Sue

Geraldine you are a genius! I tell you what I have had more than my money's worth from the County Register in chatting to you, and all this photo nonsense! Forget photos, they will just have to meet the real thing, for better for worse! Anyway, I remain open minded!!!
Best wishes  Gillie

Hi Geraldine
God willing, Charles and I will be married in September. All is going well, and I have been pleased to recommend The County Register to several friends.
Thank you for all your help and support
Margaret

Dear Tamara
Just got your letter today reminding me that my membership has now  expired and I thought I would drop you a line to say I am still very happily dating John and I believe he is still happily dating me! So thanks it really was surprisingly easy! I won't, hopefully, need to consult you again so thank you.
Regards, Lucy

Dear Geraldine
I have seen Ben and we got on very well and will be seeing each other again this week. Also met Chris who I found quite cute (if you can say that about a 57 year old!) I will phone Keith next week and then I need to see where I am and how I feel. Obviously I will keep you up to date. I feel quite lucky that I have met some very nice men.
Regards, Dorothy

Dear Geraldine
Let me start with wishing you a happy New Year and a successful one for The Portfolio Connection.  Although 2004 brought me happiness and fun, thanks to The Portfolio Connection, I decided to break my relationship with Anthony just before Christmas.  We both would have loved for it to work permanently but on my part I finally had to acknowledge that I could not go on.  A pity but I know I have made the right decision.
I am
