The County Register was formed way back in 1983, by two rural mums on the school run, Heather Heber Percy and Geraldine Turner, who saw a need and an opportunity to bring love and long-standing relationships to the people of Leeds and West Yorkshire, through their matchmaking skills.
It worked brilliantly and now more than half a lifetime later Heather is still active as a matchmaker and oversees our matchmaking team at head office, although her colleague Geraldine did plump for retirement in 2019.

We very much continue to run The County Register on similar lines today to what we have always done, whilst we have a much bigger team and cover the whole of the UK, we still try to recruit quality members, get to know them really well during their membership and match them with others where we think there could be chemistry. Yes our systems are now much more technologically advanced to help us, but there remains no substitute to offering a quality and highly thorough service, based on those old fashioned values of integrity, caring for our clients, dealing fairly with people and providing real value for money. Even though our prices are obviously higher than those for ‘DIY dating’ – creating your own profile online or on a dating app and searching for people at random yourself, targeting people who may or may not be genuine or even real. With us every member has been personally interviewed and carefully vetted, so we are able to confirm they are who they say they are and are also absolutely genuine.

We offer a highly personal service, right from your very first contact with us, when Tracey our Senior Membership Adviser, will make contact with you either by phone, email, text message or via WhatsApp to try to agree a mutually convenient time to have an in-depth chat, to get to know you a little, what it is you’d like to achieve and talk through the options that we have and how a membership of The County Register could benefit you.
If you do decide to join, the next step would be to arrange your comprehensive interview, either in your own home with Tracey, or through Karen, Lucy or Heather our matchmaking team at our head office, whichever you feel most comfortable with. Your matchmaking can then begin – which is obviously the exciting bit, and we hope will be the start of a wonderful new romance for you and successful new chapter in your life.
